Have a Healthier Pregnancy!

More than 50 nutritional experts from a European Union (EU) committee now recommend pregnant and nursing women supplement their diets on a daily basis with a large amount of DHA, an essential omega-3 fatty acid. Clinically proven in numerous studies to offer a growing array of health benefits, nutritional supplementation of DHA is now being associated with healthier pregnancies.

Just last year, the makers of the prescription supplement Animi-3(R) noted a study by Dr. Joseph Hibbeln, NIH, which determined DHA supplementation by pregnant women has a discernible positive effect on the mental and social development of their children.*

Likewise, this new European study examined the role of DHA in women's health to improve pregnancy dietary guidelines. The researchers also determined that DHA promotes good health in women and their babies:**

-- Women who include DHA in their diets have babies with healthier birth
     weights.
-- Women who include DHA in their diets have fewer premature births.
-- DHA intake is directly linked with improving infant mental and visual
     development well beyond birth.

"This commission's findings confirm that Western diets are often deficient in DHA, especially in the United States," said PBM Pharmaceuticals President Jack Schramm, who specially formulated Animi-3 to address nutritional deficiencies. "In addition to DHA, it is well known that mothers need folic acid for a healthy pregnancy."

Doctors are now using PBM's Animi-3 to precisely deliver DHA-dominant omega-3, folic acid, and vitamins B6 and B12 to expectant and nursing mothers, as well as new mothers with postpartum depression. Each capsule of Animi-3 contains 500 mg of omega-3 acids, including 350 mg of DHA.

The omega-3 in Animi-3 is all natural, purified to eliminate any contaminants such as heavy metals or PCBs, and comes from a source that has earned USP verification.

I've been hearing a lot about DHA for pregnant women -- and even for postnatal use -- lately. I'm curious to know, what are your doctors telling you (if anything) about supplementing with DHAs??
