Shall we play a little word association game?
What do you think of when you hear the word "pram?"
Here's my list: Mary Poppins, Gwyneth Paltrow, Edith Wharton, Britain, wealth, fortune, royalty... and completely impractical.
You can't go running with them. You can't take them down through the city. They don't really fold down to go on the subway with you, or in the trunk of your Prius. If you had a well-manicured garden with smooth, elegant pathways and a hoopskirt, a pram might fit perfectly into your lifestyle.
And yet... I find myself strangely covetous of the Inglesina prams. Silver Cross has always seemed to me to have the market cornered on elegant prams, but.... these designs from Inglesina eclipse those old classics to me. The Inglesina pram has been around pretty much since the company started, but they've made a few changes this year. One of my favorite people ever, Hilary Abbott, took a few hours out from her insanely busy schedule at the show to sit and talk with me about Inglesina and several other products (with which I am also completely smitten -- more on those later). I'll have to double check with her, but I do believe she told me that Tiger Woods recently purchased from Inglesina -- though, he also probably has some of those well-manicured gardens.
The new prams are very much like the originals -- they have the same classic shape, handmade wooden frame and the wheels are still the same. But the difference is in the details. They have introduced a whole new line of fabrics, including this gorgeous latte color. It's satiny soft, quilted in a rather intricate pattern and so cushy and comfy -- perfect for little babes to repose in comfort. And luxury. This year there is crystal detailing as well. On this model, the crystals are on the logos, and on another I spotted a floral motif created completely out of the crystals. Consider this the perfect mode of transport for your babe's first black tie event.
