morning sickness: baby boy or baby girl?

With my first, I had horrific morning sickness, that lasted all day for over five months. So far in this one (only a few weeks), I don't have much in the way of feeling ill. I'm hoping & praying that this remains the same the rest of the time. Anyway, is it just a rumor that pregnancy with a boy causes less m/s than with a girl?

I think it's a myth. I have 2 boys and one gave me horrible morning sickness and the other very little.

I don't think it makes a difference. My first three (girl, boy, boy) not one bit of ms. Fourth one I was constantly queasy to the point of wishing I'd throw up, but only did once (boy).

    I'm w/ Brenna.

I was not sick at all w/ Raef. Not even a little bit. But I was so sick w/ Peyton that they had to put me on a med called Zofran because I lost almost 15lbs in my first 6 weeks. I couldn't even keep water down. They almost put me in the hospital for dehydration twice!

It's definitely a myth....I wasn't sick once and I had a baby boy, but my bff was sick even through half of her 2nd trimester and she also had a baby boy.

I have three boys and they were all different. First one hardly ill at all. Second one sick the whole nine months. (Not a weight loss program I would recommend) The third boy, I didn't even know I was pregnant for a while and after that I wasn't really sick at all.

I "read" that you get ms if carrying a girl. I am 7 wks along and I've been feeling worst than ever. All day morning sickness. I can't even drink water anymore. I have prescription for nausea but the drowsiness is so unbearable that I have to sleep all day. Help!

    To Momma Rotz,

I am in week eight on my fourth pregnancy.  My morning sickness has been horrible (like all the others), but I have started to take some B6/ginger powder pills called Morning Sickness Magic...although it has not completely taken away the nausea, it has helped with the vomiting and sometimes I feel good for an hour or two during the day.  So while it may not be a complete cure (for me anyway), it has definitely helped.  I would recommend it or something with the B6 vitamins. I had a hard time with water too, this has helped with that as well.

Re: morning sickness: baby boy or baby girl?

With my first child, my daughter, I was queasy in the late morning/early afternoon.  I was feeling so icky that I thought maybe throwing up would make the feeling go away.  I was never able to throw up, but the m/s lasted until the 3th or 4th month.  With my son I felt queasy from time to time, but not very often.  With this baby, just smelling something (that of course no one else can smell) has been making me feel sick.  I can't even cook dinner for my family AND eat with them.  I can only handle doing one or the other :(

I am totally convinced this is a girl I'm carrying around with me.  I was freezing cold all the time with my daughter, not with my son.  I'm am cold all the time now (yes, I know it's winter).  There are other strange similarities between this pregnancy and my first.

So...for me (if this is a girl I'm having), it would seem as though m/s comes with girls.  That's just me.  My mom, however, had horrible morning sickness all 9 months for all 5 of us (there are 3 boys and 2 girls).

With my first pregnancy (a girl, she will be 6 in June), I had no m/s whatsoever- it was the most perfect pregnancy.  With my son (he just turned 3), I had moring sickness for the first 2 and half months where i could hardly keep anything down.  This pregnancy (I am 15 weeks along) is a whole 'nother story.  It's m/s to the umpteenth power.  EVERYTHING makes me nauseous, food, smells... but I cant throw up. (with one exception: a couple weeks ago I had some KFC that made me violentlyt ill and i will NEVER eat from the kernel again).  I am also always cold too and extremely fatigued.  I dont know what I am having (and dont plan to find out), but I am hoping for a girl.  And my guesses have been right 2 out of three times. ;-)

I tend to lean more toward myth and towards each pregnancy is different in so many ways.....but my own personal experience was, my first pregnancy with my son I had no real morning sickness except for the occassional unpleasant feeling while brushing my teeth.  My second pregnancy with my daughter I was extremely sick all day every day for 3 months!  Just as I was about to take medications prescribed by my doctor, the sickness relented.  So hopefully, for me maybe the third pregnancy will be the decision maker  :)

I think that its totally a myth and morning sickness comes with any pregnancy, boy or girl.
