    water breaking question

I'm about 38 1/2 weeks pregnant with my first child. My doctor recently moved the due date up a week but I always thought her due date was earlier than my predictions. We live an hour away from the hospital and I've been having alot of false labor. I'm concerned about knowing when It's truely time.
I have heard that alot of the time your water doesn't break alearting you to labor, but is either broken by the doctor or on it's own once your obviously in labor. I would really like my water to break before so I know for sure and b/c I want to experience that part of labor.
Just wondering if your water broke beforelabor , during or by the doctor?

    water breaking question

you might not really want it to break before going to hospital just bc when the water is gone contractions are more painful and babies usually come a little quicker.....just time your contractions and if you feel pressure down there then go in. i lived 45 min from hospital i had the boys at and i never had a prob getting there....my biggest fear was actually having my water break inthe car with damien bc i was riding in my dh's corvette, and with tallen i was scared it would break bc i had been thru labor before and knew what to expect if it did break...i am a "drug me up" kind of girl.... :D

    water breaking question

It was different for me each time.

With my first, the doctor induced me by breaking my water first before labor started.

With my second, it broke on its own 3 weeks before my due date while I was signing in for a doctor's visit.

With my third, I was induced again. However, my doctor broke my water when I was dilated to 3. Then 2 hours later, Christian was born.

Breaking my water really sped up delivery. My first was born in 90 minutes from start to finish. My longest delivery was 10 hours, and that was the only one that my water broke on its own.
