when we had it they gave my lil'man Nystatin and i was on duflican 200mg for 14 days it went away and it hasnt come back. wash everything that comes in contact with her mouth (vitamin droppler, teething rings, pacifier etc...) thats how we got rid of it; i was showing all the syptoms but my lil'man wasn't so my doc told me it wasn't thrush and i was in pain for about a month before my lil'man had lil white spots in his cheeks, on his tongue and a couple on his bottom lip. then finally my and his pedi gave meds. but it is painful on our booobies. i hope you and Macy feel better :)

Can you get it this late in the game? I called the pedi nurse and she was a real b*tch and told me Macy is old enough to fight the yeast and if she doesn't have white spots or a yeast diaper rash then they wont treat her.

Yep. The first time he had thrush he was about 6 weeks, and it lasted a little over a month (because the nystatin didnt work!). Then he started getting patches again around 8 months, I gave him the Gentian Violet when I first noticed it and it was gone within 2-3 days, then it looked like he might have the beginnings of white patches again when he was about 10 months (after he was on antibiotics and also had a yeast diaper rash) so I treated him right away and he hasn't had any problems since.

Exactly. So why are the doctors so reluctant to treat it? Honestly, I'm not too fond of giving my baby medicine either, but I don't want to struggle with this for months if all it takes is giving her a little medicine.

Cathi I hope you are feeling better... Did your doc ever call you back?
