    Life

    Hi,

Everything is going good thought I would sit down and write my first big post. I am 23 years old and have been trying to have a baby for the past 4 years. Nov. 3rd is my 2nd year wedding anniversary and I am 17 weeks pregnante with twins. When I found out I was having twins all I could do is cry. I still do it a lot now. The last couple of days have been weird. I have started having this streaching pain in my lower stomach. I called my doctor and he said everything was o.k it is just my uterus making room for the baby's. Last night I started having leg cramps does anyone know something to help with this or is it all part of having a baby. I do not know a lot about having a baby or taking care of two the same age so you guys will be hearing a lot from me. I am just glad that I am not the only one going through this that there are many women who have had twins and more and made it through. I hope all of you are doing well and I look forward to talking to you guys.

    Hi Ashley,

I don't know anything about having twins, but I am pregnant with my third and as far as leg cramps go I  have found that drinking more water (even if you think you are drinking enough, DRINK  MORE) and also bananas help.  Bananas are rich in potassium which helps with muscle cramps in legs and elsewhere. Good luck with everything.

Have you looked into getting any books to read? There are alot on raising or survivng with twins. Big Smile I dont thinkit will be as bad as you think it will. Since you dont have a single baby to compare to it will just be how it is. KWIM if I was preggo with twins I thinkit would be harder for me in the sense I have only raised kids singally rather than 2 at a time. I hope that makes since.

So are your twins spontaneous or a result of fertility treatments?

ETA: there are also support groups for moms of multiples. I know we have one in York  called MOMY Moms of multiples york. your OB may ahve more info about that or local pediatricians.

Congrats on the twins! We have 3 year old twins who are a delight!

The leg cramps: water and potassium DOES help. I encourage women to eat a banana before bed and drink lots of water. Also, if you tend to get the leg cramps at night, try doing 20 pelvic tilts before bed (get on all fours, sag your belly toward the ground, then tuck your tailbone under like a vertical wag until your spine is STRAIGHT (not arched)). This works best if you do it ON the bed, then get right onto your side and go to sleep immediately afterward. This same exercise helps if you find yourself getting up numerous times in the night to go to the bathroom.
