The pee conversation should be here...

How many times do you pee at night?   I am still up once and it's been 7 months since that baby came out!!

    Re: Pee

Well, consider yourselves lucky ladies!  My husband didn't believe me until we were married and he saw it with his own eyes. . .I consistently wake to pee during the night between 6-10 times.  My mom always said it was in my head, but when you are awakened by the urge to go, then I don't think it's in your head.  She finally agreed with me.  I suffered a severe kidney/bladder infection during my freshman year of high school (13 long years ago!) and things haven't been the same since.  I don't think I make that much urine, I just have trouble emptying everytime I go.  They're pretty sure that I have permanent kidney damage which probably results in the frequent urination/inabilty to empty my bladder.  But, add pregnancy to this and I might as well stay up at night and forget about sleep!  Things have gotten worse since my first child (she's four now) and I'm currently 6 weeks pregnant so I guess my journey to the potty begins again. lol.  I might just camp out on the toilet with a pillow?! Confused

I get up once a night. My problem is that I have the hardest time going back to sleep after. It is really driving me crazy. It is making it really hard for me to function the rest of the day.

    Re: Pee

You have no clue!  I actually had a birth defect in my kidney that resulted in 75% of the right kidney being removed in 97.  I then had the smaller kidney on the right side and I had to pee all the time for years.  Finally, two years ago they removed the smaller kidney and finally got some relief from the pain and constantly going to the restroom, now I only wake up a couple of times since being pregnant. I know that when you have children that lowers your bladder, when I had my first kidney surgery they lifted (tacked) my bladder up and that made a world of difference until I had my second child and now I can tell it is back down again, but not has much as the first time.  You can go to a urologist and have them check out the position of your bladder.  Also, kegel exercises work great for bladder problems-works great for me now.  Just do a google search for bladder exercises and kegel.  GOOD LUCK!

Krae- they have doctors that specialize in voiding problems that might be able to help you.   I would check into that – if you have scar tissue resulting in your earlier infection there are some herbal treatments to help the kidney be more pliable that might also help you get some relief.

Thanks for information christi!  Goodness knows I need to research some alternative solutions.  I'm allergic to most kinds of antibiotics so I tend to like herbal treatments as an option.  Thanks again!

    Re: Pee

I am starting to feel like something is wrong with me now..... because I am about 15 weeks and since the begging I wake up about 7-10 times a night almost every hour.. I thought that this was normal but reading other messages I guess not?? However I did have a really bad kidney infection about four years ago and ever since then even before I was pregnant I pee alot! I was going to see a urologist but I thought it was all in my head and didn't want to wast anyones time so all this peeing could have to do with my kidney's??

    Re: Pee

It could be something with your kidney (do you have pain in your back where your kidney is?) or it could be something with your bladder.  It doesn’t hurt to get it checked out.  Remember the first thing they are going to ask you is to stop drinking before a certain time – like 6pm to see if that helps so I would try that before going in so that you can say that you have already tried that and it is still happening.  Good luck!

    Re: Pee

Thank you, I used to think I just drank to much coffee but I am starting to think there may be a problem because since I have been pregnant I do not drink much coffee at all, but I used to go to the doctor all the time thinking I had a UTI because the constant peeing and they would always call me after the lab work was done telling me I did not have a UTI.  Should I wait till the pregnancy is over to take care of the problem because I know that I can't really take any medications while pregnant?

    Re: Pee

would that be pain on my left side lower back?

    Re: Pee

It would not be your lower back and you should not feel it on your side. It is more above the lower back but before the middle of the back.  I can't really describe it.  Are you having pain?
