I'm 37 weeks pregnant with my first baby and when we went to the doctor's yesterday for my weekly check-up, he told me he could feel the head and I'm effaced but I forgot to ask him of what percentage.  I also just dropped and now that I just quit my job 2 days ago to stay at home with the baby.  But does anyone have any idea of how much longer till labor?  Is anyone else in the same boat?

I wish I could give you the answer of course I'd have to charge you for it... I'd make ALOT of money!! at 37 wks with each of my kids I was at least 3cm, #2 was awful :( I was ONE day shy of 41wks and almost 6cm when I was induced. I hope your baby comes alot faster than mine do!! Take it easy these last few weeks... this is the easy part of being a parent, the fun starts (and never stops) after you have that baby!!

Hey, congrats. Anyway, with the first one you never can tell. You can always call your doc's nurse and ask her to ask him how effaced you were, but like I said, with your first you just never can tell. Some women are effaced and dialated for a month with their first. Get some rest, you are gonna need it. Also, take some walks if you want to help things along. Let us know. We are excited for you. Nipple Stimulation can also help to trigger labor and contractions. The problem is it needs to be nonstop, not just a tweek here and there. I know it sounds funny, but it's true! Good luck and don't rush it, enjoy the sleep you get right now.

Oh pelase dont try the nipple stimulation yet, your just barely full term!! Wait at least another week. You dont want a visit to the NICU, been there done that

I walked around for 5 weeks at 3 centimeters.  And still had to be induced.  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!
