    Hurry Up!!

Could July hurry up and get here?? LOL, don't get me wrong, I love being pregnant and feeling him move and squirm and wake mommy up at night, but now I'm just so anxious to meet him that I want it to be July. I'm more than willing to let him "incubate" as long as he needs, I def. don't want him born too early, just excited and anxious now. Sorry just had to vent...I guess its not really venting, just expressing feeling LOL. How are all of you feeling? Hitting third tri already or soon? How many are planning on trying an unmedicated delivery? Well, just wanted to liven up our july board...its been kinda dead!! Take care!

    Re: Hurry Up!!

I understand what you mean, I LOVE being pregnant, there's just nothing like it in the world. I was definitely a lot more anxious to meet my baby with my 1st, my daughter, time seemed to creep. Now I am 25 weeks pregnant with my son and it is flying by for me. Of course she keeps me rather busy! But just enjoy every moment, it will be here before you know it and you will definitely miss being pregnant! I am a natural childbirth advocate. I had my daughter completely natural and will again with this one. I hope you are going to try and give it a shot. My daughter's labor was only 2 1/2 hours and they always say the second goes faster, we'll see. If you want to talk or have any questions about unmedicated childbirth, ask away, I'll be happy to help! Congratulations and Good luck with your little one!

     Gianna's Mommy,

did you have an unmed. birth in the hospital? I want to be unmed. this time but I'm nervous about the hospital letting me do things the way I want to do them. I know they don't force drugs on you, but things like letting you eat and drink if you want and different positions for birth. I was wondering if you had a hard time with the staff trying to tell you what to do.

    Re: Hurry Up!!

Yes, it was in a hospital. Before I chose my Dr and hospital I interviewed and asked around to others who had used them. Once I found my OB, I also asked his opinion on which hospital was most likely to honor my wishes for birth and support me. My OB was the biggest factor in the entire situation because the staff at the hospital was supportive of whatever he was supportive of.  I wrote up a birth plan and gave a copy to my Dr and the hospital when I registered and again when I got there for delivery.  They were very supportive, I had no medical intervention, they allowed me to do as I wanted from walking around to sitting on a birthing ball, on all fours in the bed, whatever I needed to feel more comfortable, they only checked me when I asked for it, which was only 2x. I really couldn't have asked for a more picture perfect labor and birth experience and I feel it was that way because I educated myself in all my decisions and spoke with staff before hand to let them know what I wanted and made sure that they could and would support my decisions (all of course pending an uncomplicated birth) I believe the most important thing for you to do in order to know that your wishes will be honored is to check a couple of hospitals, if you have more than one available to you, and speak with the L&D nurses to find the place you are most comfortable. And most importantly, stay at home as long as possible, the longer you're in the hospital the longer labor tends to last. I went to the hospital when my contractions were 1 to 2 mins apart for over an hour, I was 4 cm when I got there and 2 1/2 hours later my daughter was born. It was perfect. I wish you all the luck in the world with this labor and delivery, have faith in yourself, you can do it! Congratulations!

    Re: Hurry Up!!

    Tay,

If you have desires like eating and drinking during labor, positions, meds, etc, sit down with your doc and write a birth plan.  Make sure your doc has a copy and bring one to the hospital when you go into labor.  I worked in L&D for several years and even though we're supposed to get things like that from the doc, they sometimes get misplaced, so bring a copy with you just to be sure!  It also doesn't hurt to ask for a nurse who is more supportive of natural labor (if you're comfortable asking that), because while we all encourage mom's choice, some of us are better than others! :D  I wish you the best, and just remember, this is your experience and the staff should support that.  The only time we change birth plans are if it's absolutely necessary and we will talk to you about it before hand.  Ignore the horror stories you hear...for the most part, mommies get to follow their birth plan 100%.  Good luck to you!  I want to have my baby naturally too, but because I have a bicournate uterus, the baby may end up transverse, requiring a c-section.  We'll see!
