    Elevated Thyroid

I have a question for everyone. I am 6 weeks pregnant and just got my blood work results from the doctor. She said everything looks normal, except my thyroid is slightly high. I have to go in for more blood work tomorrow. Has anyone else had this happen? I am a little worried. Thank you

    Re: Elevated Thyroid

My Dr told me the same thing from my first blood work, which was also right about 6 weeks, everything turned out fine, they've checked it periodically since and its fine.  I am now 30 weeks and have a perfectly healthy baby boy on the way and I have had no problems because of it. Don't be worried, just about everything gets "slightly elevated" when you're pregnant, thyroid, blood pressure, pulse, etc. My sister in law actually had severely elevated thyroid levels with her son and they put her on thyroid meds, she now has a healthy 9 week old baby boy and he does not have any issues with his thyroid. I wouldn't be concerned, wait for your 2nd labs to come back and see what they say, even if you have to take meds just know that there are lots of women who take thyroid meds and have healthy uncomplicated pregnancies and you're not alone!  Congratulations on your new baby and wishing you a very healthy pregnancy!

I too, have thyroid issues, mine was seriously off though.  I am currently taking thyroid meds and they are keeping everything under control.  Just make sure that if your doc says you need to take meds, that you do.  Congrats and good luck

    Re: Elevated Thyroid

I have thyroid issues and usually only during pregnancy.  after my last dd my thyroid cont to stay elevated and i went on meds for it only because we were ttc soon so now i am on thyroid meds and techno. has come so far you really shouldnt worry about it the worst would be you have to stay on meds during maybe even after pregnancy but it is completely healthy for baby and actual if you should be on them you could have preterm if you are not on them and other complications so follow drs orders!
