    I am new here!

Hi... I am new here... been lurking a little, but never posted, and I wanted to join on in.  I am 31 weeks pregnant with my 4th child.  My oldest Jamin is 41/2, Makena is 2 1/2 birthday in aug) and Weston my baby is 20 months.... and Lawsen our newest addition is coming in September.  OUr due date is the 23rd. My original due date was October 4th, they moved the due date up by like 12 days or whatever.  I know that My due date is in October, but nobody listens to the mom.  haha.  As of right now, I am diebetic..... and have already gained 41 pounds.  Just saying that depresses me... but there's nothing I can do about it.  I gained 60 with my first, and I am well on my way.  Of course, I am diebetic.... I had an ultrasound last week, baby weighed 3 1/2 pounds.  I guess that's average, but my dr said that I am measuring over a week ahead...... I have big babies anyways...

well, now that you have my life history... lol.  Just wanted to join for the next two months...because right now I have so many ahces and pains it's so nice to know somebody else is out there that feels my pain, literally!

Hi I'm also due in Sep. The 16th to be exact. I have two children Nicole is 6 1/2 and Brittney is 5 1/2. This little one took forever to get pregnant with but he is almost finally here. We are going to name him Brayden Cory. I am also diabetic and it sucks but I have been doing alright with it all. I hate to say it but I haven't gained a pound with this pregnancy. I was up about five pounds then I lost it all. I asked my Dr. if it was OK and he says my baby is growing perfectly fine so I shouldn't worry about it. Of course I do because I gained 30 with my first and 45 with my second. I do have to say that back with my first two I was only 130 pounds when I got pregnant and before this one I was already 185 so maybe that makes the difference. I go for my ultrasound on thursday to see how big this guy is and as much as I feel him up in my ribs I think he might be a little larger then my girls. I just hope he's stays small enough that I can have him naturally.  Well I hope all of your aches and pains aren't too bad and I hope to keep in touch with you for the remainder of our journey.

Beth! Stop worrying! If you think the baby is bigger than your girls then that is your sure fire sign that he is growing despite no weight gain on your part. I weigh 2 lbs less now, at 34 weeks than I did at my first prenatal visit. I look at it this way, if you are eating better now than you were before the pregnancy, which all of us diebetics should be, then of course you'll lose or maintain. I know I eat less and better now than before and growing a baby causes your body to use more calories, so it's like I'm exercising too, even though I'm not. My stomach is HUGE! I am still measuring 3 cm large too. Of course I'm not worried because I was measuring 4 cm big before and my u/s showed him to be in the 65th percentile, so not too big. My first 2 boys were 8lb 8oz & 8lb 3oz and I don't think this one will be any bigger than that. I do agree with you that I think if you are heavier starting out, you stand a better chance at not gaining as much during the pregnancy. Never a guarantee though! Pregnant women are beautiful no matter what they gain, just eat healthy and enjoy what's left of our ride, it will be over very soon. I'm hoping to talk my OB into an induction on August 20, at 38 weeks. We'll see!Wink

Oh girl, I wouldn't be worrying about the not gaining thing.  Man, it's depressing that I have gained 41 pounds, and that there is somebody out there that hasn't gained at all. haha.  With being diebetic though I gain ALOT!  I was diabetic with my daughter and it was so hard for me to not gain weight.  I don't know why.  Of course, I don't do insulin, which might be a big difference.  I just maintain it with my diet.  I guess that might make a difference!

Thanks for making me feel so welcome!  I haven't had much time to read since I posted, but I have been feeling pretty sick lately and I thought it was just normal pregnancy induced allergies, I get that alot... and well, turns out that I have a sinus infection, double ear infection, pink eye and strep throat.  Sheez!  I feel horrible.  I am laying here while my wonderful hubby is watching the kids.  :)

No wonder you're worried about the weight gain - you have a sinus infection, double ear infection, pink eye, strep throat AND you're pregnant in the heat of summer!  Once you start feeling better you'll be able to put this in perspective and focus on keeping your diabetes in check so you and baby stay healthy for the remainder of your term.  Don't worry about the weight - you can take the necessary actions after birth to address any extra baby weight.

I hope you feel better soon!

    Re: I am new here!

Aw, thanks.  i do feel alot better. I haven't been on herein days but I finally got over this horrible sickness.  I feel *almost* 100% better.  More like 95%, but way better than feeling yucky.  We had family come in the day I found out I had pink eye and I couldn't even be around them.  I was so glad to spend some time with them yesterday but last night hit me hard ..... I was exhausted by the end of the day!

I usually gain alot of weight during my pregnancies... so far it's been 60 my first, 50, then 40, now this time it's already past the 40 mark and I'm getting depressed about it.  I have always lost it ALL after I have them, it hasn't been easy but I have lost it all!  So this time I plan on doing that too.  After the baby gets here. I know I have to watch what I eat whle I pregnant because of the diabetes but I don't want to lose weight.  My sister said she lost like 10 pounds the first month.........
