My friends sister just got amnio results back that are positive for downs and there is a heart condition--not sure details yet--but my question is if the amnio is positive does that mean 100% the baby has downs?

I am no doctor and at 39 I did not have Amnio, however, all they tell you is that it is the only way to be sure.  I am very sorry for this news, I know it's not easy to hear....I chose not do this because all my other results came back great that the dr said not to take a risk doing the amnio, however they did all tell me it was the only way to be 100%.  I really hate to say that, but if the heart condition is there too, it most likely is pretty positive.

Did she get the blood test first. they are trying to get me to get an amnio but i do not want them to do it. they said that my baby has some dilation and excess fluid on his brain i do not know what that means but they said that his spine i fine so it is not spina bifida. they can do alll the blood tests they want but i am not getting that huge needle stuck in my stomache.
