I just found out I'm pregnant, but I have so many questions and nobody to talk to!!!

So, I just found out I am pregnant, kinda excited but so scared. I have so many questions but I don't have anyone to talk to. I have my first appointment next week, but I'm going to go crazy if i don't get some answers or information. I haven't had a period since the end of June, but I have never had regular menstrual cycles. I want to be able to at least estimate how many weeks I am, but I don't even know how to do that. Also, to put on top of that I took a pregnance test the first week in August and it was negative, so I want to know if there is a certain time length of time that it takes in order to show up on a pregnancy test. Someone help me please!!! I am going crazy not even knowing an estimate!

And Congrats to all you mothers to be~

    Hey there, Umpa! Congratulations!
I know you're excited and nervous and kind of freaked out all at once, but take a big deep breath and try to relax a little. I know you have tons of questions, but what you also have is a) a doctor's appointment very soon and b) all of us to offer our advice in the meantime. Do you have any ideas about when you may have conceived? The doctor will be able to give you a pretty good estimate- hang in there! Relaxing is good for you and the baby! Big Smile

    Hey Mamania,

Thanks for the advice. Truthfully it could have been anytime between the middle of July up until now. So I won't know until Tuesday when I go to my appt. Other than that me and my boyfriend are excited, and taking it day by day. Thanks again.

Congrats on the pregnancy and welcome to the boards.  I agree with Mamania, your doctor will be able to give you the best estimate of your due date when you have an irregular schedule.  I know it was very hard for me to wait till I saw my doctor but my estimate of when I thought my due date was off by quite a bit!!  Good luck!

    Hi,

I'm fairly new here. I just took an at home test last week and got a positive. Being that it was a long weekend and all, I have not been able to see my doctor yet. I have an appointment for tomorrow morning with nurse to confirm that I am in fact pregnant and will then take it from there.

Try to relax and just enjoy this moment.... you will soon have answers.

    Congratulations!

Hi I would first like to congratulate you on your pregnancy. Is this your first child? I am pregnant with my third. I went online to this search for "pregnancy predictor"...I t will estimate a due date. That's  just the thing though, it is only an estimate! With my first child, I was 10 days late and had to be induced, as well as my second whom arrived 8 days late. This time, I marked the calendar each time I had a period, and each day my husband and I tried to get pregnant. This way, I know that I got pregnant on July 21, and the first day of my last period was 07/07....this puts my due date on April 13,2009. When I went for my first ultrasound, they estimated that the due date is correct based on how the baby is developed. Don't stress yourself out! The best way for you to find out is with an ultrasound which your doctor should set you up with an appointment for the ultrasound. You always count 40 weeks from the first day of your last period for the due date. Again, congratulations on the baby! The baby will come when the baby is ready.

Don't stress out! My first two kids were both late and I had to be induced with them. You can never truly predict when the baby will come, but the baby WILL come. You can search for "pregnancy predictor" online for an estimated due date. Or count 40 weeks from the first day of your last period. I hope this helps! Congratulations! And the first day of my last one was 07/07/08, and My due date(confirmed by ultrasound) is April 13, 2009.....

It usually takes a good 2-3 weeks from the time that you conceive to get a positive HPT.  I know that the ones at the doc's office won't show up as soon as EPT or First Response.  I got a definite positive on a FR and then went to the doc and it took a little over 3 minutes for it to show +.  So... just take a deep breath and relax, I'm a little over 4 weeks pregnant with my third and these things never get any easier!  Congrats!!!

Congratulations! That is awesome news. What a great feeling huh?

Best wishes to you for a healthy pregnancy and healthy sweet baby!

P.S. I went to the doctor today and confirmed that I am 5 weeks 3 days pregnant, estimated due date of May 4th, based on my last period.

Congratulations! Is this your first baby? My due date is April 27th!! This is my first pregnancy so you are right about lots of questions. This has definitely  been an emotional ride so far. My boyfriend and I didn't plan this pregnancy but we couldn't be happier or more excited. Once the shock wore off the excitement started. Big Smile

Did your dr want to meet with you right away? I took the HP Sept 1st and called my OB the next day but they didn't schedule me until Sept 26th. Seemed like a long time but maybe not. Well, if you have any advice or questions throughout this journey don't hesitate to contact me.

I called my doctor and they told me that the doctor usually sees her patients until they are about 8 weeks. My cousin told me that it is due to the heart beat being visible at 8 weeks but usually it is not visible prior to that. I guess it makes sense though.
