    measuring large for U/S

Hi All, I am a first time mom and I am over 35..39 to be exact.

I just has an U/S for 30wks, and they informed me my little beanie girl was measuring large...at approx 32wks.  Not that it's a bad thing, but I was just wondering how often this happens and is it always accurate.  My doctor has now started WEEKLY stress tests due to AMA, and said he will be doing another U/S, my only fear is a 10lb baby... really do not want to be squeezing that out.  All tests have come back great so far... I did come up a little anemic...nothing that an additional iron pill wouldn't take care of, but if I go by the newest U/S, I went from a due date of Dec.2 to Nov 17th...the doc at the moment is not changing my due date...I'm just curious, maybe it's my advanced maternal age...the polite way of telling me I'm old....

I wouldn't worry about it. I recently read that an ultra sound is the least effective way of measuring a baby's weight. I also know someone who just a couple of weeks ago was induced a week early because they thought the baby was going to b big and she only weighed a little over 6 lbs! Your body is made to have babies, don't let the Dr. scare you into thinking you can't do it.

I am measuring two weeks ahead as well.  It is true that ultrasound can be way off.  My last child was large though and had the same measuring big thing.  I made it past 40 weeks.  Your due date won't and shouldn't be changed.  Just because the baby might be bigger it does not mean that you are really 32 weeks.  The baby's organs are still only 30 weeks no matter the weight, and changing your date may result in a premature baby.

    Good luck!!!
