    Big Baby....induction?

Hey all....It turns out my little one isn't so little...she is pushing almost 9lbsSurprise and the doctor wants to induce. Any idea's on natural induction?? I'd rather not be hooked up to hosiptal stuff... I expressed this concern with doc and was given another week to wait it out.. Already 50% effaced and 2 1/2 cm dilated as of the 7th.

Hi.  JMO, but the induction may not be as bad as you are worried about.  With my first, I didn't want an induction, so I tried every method known to man to induce labor.  All the trying did continue to get me dialated (I was almost 6 cm dialated when I finally went in to the the Pitocin).  Everyone says labor through induction is worse because it is stronger, but as it was my first, I had nothing to compare it to.  I got all the way to 10 cm dialated on Pitocin with no pain medications.  I did end up getting a c-section because he went into distress--cord around his neck and he was 9 lbs 13 oz.

Now, with this baby, I am like you.  At the 36 week ultrasound, they estimated she weighed 7 lbs 11 oz.  I can't be induced with this one because of the prior c-section, but if I could do it over with my first born, I probably would be induced earlier.  Then he would have been smaller and perhaps could have come out a bit easier.  Good luck to you.

Thanks Smile I guess I'll just wait it out... I'm probably going to end up with a c-section anyway, due to her being so big. But we'll see. It's fine as long as she is healthy.
