Your Pregnancy: Week 25 for Dad
By: ePregnancy
Let’s face it, unless you’ve been imbued with "Heroes"-style powers, you aren’t going to live forever. It seems strange to plan for death when in the midst of such a life-giving experience, but practicality demands it. If you and your partner don’t already have a will, now is the time to write one. Decide who will care for your child in the event that you are unable to (whether by death or injury). Make financial arrangements so that your wee one will be secure should something happen to you. While you’re at it, draft a living will as well. This advises your doctors and caregivers of your wishes regarding courses of treatment in the event that you are unable to give direction yourself.
Since you're in planning mode, this is also a good time to start thinking about child care, especially if you are both going back to work. It seems ridiculous to reserve a daycare spot for a little person who isn't even here yet -- but those daycares fill up lightning quick, especially where newborns are concerned. So start researching: get recommendations from friends, the doctor, etc., and then plan a visit to the center to scope things out for yourself. You'll want to look for things like number of caregivers (are there enough to give appropriate care to all kids?), hygiene and space limitations. Talk to the employees and the person in charge. And, make sure to inquire about pricing. You'll need to add that into your new budget.
