Wowsers. Never in your life have you owned so many gadgets that require chargers and batteries and cords and adaptors… Welcome to the world of modern parenting!
Gone are the days of tin-can telephones: the super- mega-ultrasonic-laser-shooting baby monitor is here to stay! Because so much of the parenting paraphernalia is battery operated these days, we recommend stocking up on those trusty double A’s (and C’s, and a few D’s wouldn’t hurt).
While you are at it, buy a few 9 volts to operate the brand new smoke detectors you’ll be installing. Yep, you heard us: New, reliable smoke detectors. You should have at least one on each floor of your house. Check with your local fire department if you are unsure where to place them. And since the good old FD actually gives away (and installs) free smoke detectors to those who request them, you have no excuse for not having at least one in your home.
