Baby will be here any day now, and with his arrival comes the daunting prospect of breastfeeding. Contrary to popular belief, breastfeeding doesn’t always come naturally or easily. Nursing pillows help, however, and the fact that you procured one of these gems will mean a lot to Mom. The pillow assists in positioning the baby for a better latch, and will also help Mom support him while he’s feeding. If you have elected not to breastfeed, a nursing pillow can still be a big help by offering support and taking some of the strain off your arms while feeding. There are lots of pillows out there, so take note of your situation and then select the pillow that best meets your family’s needs.

Breastfeeding is one of those things that most of us assume is the mother's territory. But that's not entirely true. Dads play a very important role in breastfeeding, so listen up!

Where breastfeeding is concerned, you are the primary support person, the go-to guy, the Robin to her Batman. Breastfeeding isn't so simple, and your encouragement can make the difference in Mom continuing to try or giving up too soon. If you can, take on some of the extra workload at home. When she's done breastfeeding, offer to burp the baby -- not only are you helping with the task at hand, but that contact between father and child will help strengthen your bond.

If you are nervous that Mom's breastfeeding will inhibit your bonding with Baby, you aren't alone. But there are ways to head this notion off at the pass. Spend as much time as you can with the little one, snuggling, cuddling, touching -- throw on the sling and carry him with you as you do that extra load of laundry or dash to the grocery store. You can also bottlefeed with breastmilk. This gives you time to bond with your boy over a meal and the physical closeness is an amazing relationship builder.
